Open Auditions: Lionheart Season 2026

Upcoming Open Auditions: “Where There’s a Will” by Joe Simonelli

Attention all actors! Ever wanted to portray Shakespeare? Now’s your chance!

The Lionheart Theatre Company is excited to announce open, non-Equity auditions for our May 2026 production of “Where There’s a Will.”

All roles are non-paying.

Actors only need to attend one of the audition days. No appointments required.

Please bring an acting resume or be ready to list past roles, along with a current headshot or current photo of you that we may keep.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script.

Audition Dates:
– Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 6:30 pm
– Monday, February 9, 2025, at 6:30 pm


Show Dates:
May 1-17, 2026
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm
Sundays at 2 pm

Saturday Matinee at 2 pm on 5/16


Casting:
2 men, 1 woman, 1 unspecified – Ages 18+.


Overview:
Through a quirk of fate the bard is transported through time to the modern world, where he lands outside the home of Gordon Coleridge, a struggling playwright with a pushy manager and an estranged girlfriend! Up against a deadline with writer’s block due to an ill-fated romance? Who best to assist you than William Shakespeare?


Character Breakdown:

New York accents are encouraged for all modern characters.

  • Gordon (30 – 40s – Male): Moderately successful Staten Island playwright with a few published plays and some regional pro theatre under his belt, but still striving to get his big Broadway hit.
  • Will (50s – Male): William Shakespeare. RP (Received Pronunciation) British dialect preferred.
  • Al (40-60s – Any): Gordon’s Manhattan agent/manager.
  • Cassandra (30-40s – Female): Gordon’s estranged girlfriend and muse.
