THE KINGDOM OF LIES

Original Musical — Los Angeles Premiere

Seeking: Non-Union Performers

The Kingdom of Lies is casting for it’s world premiere, a bold new original musical featuring 19 original songs blending gospel, jazz, and hip-hop.

ABOUT THE SHOW

After a devastating family tragedy fractures a pastor’s household, lies begin to take root, pulling his family apart from the inside out. As grief and doubt grow, a seductive force of deception rises — led by the charismatic Lying King, a master of manipulation who bends perception and distorts truth — working to silence Pastor Carl and unravel everything he stands for.

The Kingdom of Lies is a two-act musical exploring the battle between deception and truth, and what it costs to reclaim your identity when everything you believe begins to fall apart.

ALL ETHNICITIES

ALL LEADS MUST BE STRONG VOCALISTS

THE LYING KING (Lead, 25–55, Male)

Charismatic, dangerous, and deeply manipulative. A master of deception who bends perception, distorts truth, and feeds on control. Commands the room with ease — until cracks begin to show beneath the surface. MUST be a strong tenor/barritone singer.

PASTOR CARL (Supporting Lead, 35–65, Male)

A respected pastor carrying years of hidden guilt and loss. Strong, steady, and authoritative in public — but quietly unraveling at home. Must balance spiritual authority with deep emotional vulnerability. MUST be a strong tenor/barritone singer.

ROZ (Supporting Lead, 18–40, Female)

Emotionally raw and deeply wounded. Struggles with worth and abandonment, believing she’s invisible and undeserving of love. Requires vulnerability, depth, and a powerful emotional arc. MUST be a strong soprano/mezzo singer.

LEE (Principal, 25–45, Male)

Quietly conflicted and searching for identity. Feels inadequate in his own home and unsure of his place as a man. Must convey internal tension, frustration, and emotional breakthrough. MUST be a strong tenor singer.

LEAH (Principal, 20–45, Female)

Controlled, polished, and tightly wound. Uses perfection and control to mask unresolved grief and guilt. Strong exterior with cracks beneath the surface. MUST be a strong soprano/mezzo singer.

DANNY (Principal, 18–35, Male)

Guarded, reactive, and carrying deep trauma. Lives with anger, shame, and a belief that he’s the source of his family’s pain. Requires intensity, vulnerability, and strong stage presence. MUST be a strong tenor singer.

CRYSTAL (Principal, 20–45, Female)

Grounded, compassionate, and spiritually perceptive. A steady presence who steps in during moments of crisis. Warm, strong, and quietly authoritative. MUST be a strong singer, preferably gospel experience. MUST be a strong soprano/mezzo singer.

DEMONS (18+, All Genders)

Versatile performer-actors portraying both human roles and members of a dark, comedic demon world. Must handle physicality, character work, and tonal shifts between humor and menace. Strong movement required.

Ensemble (All Genders, 18+)

Singer/actors and dancers with strong movement ability. Perform multiple roles including family members, community, and symbolic figures within the story. Must be comfortable with gospel, jazz, and hip-hop styles.
