PRODUCTION SCHEDULE

Rehearsals begin Sunday, September 13, 2026.

The production opens Friday, November 6, 2026. Performers must be available for all technical rehearsals and performances. A complete rehearsal and performance schedule will be provided at auditions.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please prepare 16–32 bars/approximately one minute of a song in the style of the show. Bring sheet music in the appropriate key for the accompanist. (No a cappella singing or recorded accompaniment.)

Auditions will also include a dance combination taught by the choreographer. Please wear or bring clothing and shoes that allow you to move safely and comfortably.

• A current headshot and résumé, if available
• A complete list of scheduling conflicts
• A completed audition form

Walk-ins are welcome, but it is recommended to sign up online via our website (dmtc.org). You may complete digitally ahead of time or on paper form at the time of the audition.

PLOT SYNOPSIS

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. When Cady encounters The Plastics—a trio of powerful frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George—she becomes caught in the school’s popularity hierarchy. Cady and her new friends devise a “Revenge Party” to end Regina’s reign, but Cady soon learns that taking down a queen bee can come at a cost—and that losing yourself is far more dangerous than losing a popularity contest.

AVAILABLE ROLES

All roles are open. DMTC welcomes performers of all backgrounds and encourages auditioners to consider any role with which they identify. Listed vocal ranges are approximate and may be adjusted at the discretion of the production team.

Cady Heron: The new student at North Shore High School. Raised and homeschooled in Africa, Cady is intelligent, sincere, and initially unfamiliar with the social rules of American high school. As she becomes entangled with The Plastics, her desire for acceptance threatens to change who she is. Strong contemporary musical-theatre vocalist. Vocal range: G3–Gb5.

Regina George: The commanding and calculating leader of The Plastics. Regina is magnetic, confident, and fully aware of the power she holds over everyone around her. Beneath her polished exterior is a formidable opponent who refuses to surrender her status quietly. Powerful singer with strong stage presence. Vocal range: F#3–Gb5.

Janis Sarkisian: An artistic, outspoken social outsider who refuses to conform. Janis is observant, fiercely independent, and driven by a complicated history with Regina. Her sharp confidence conceals genuine hurt and a desire for revenge. Strong rock-influenced vocalist. Vocal range: Ab3–F5.

Damian Hubbard: Janis’s outgoing, theatrical, and fiercely loyal best friend. Damian is witty, warm, and unapologetically himself, with excellent comic instincts and a strong connection to Janis. Strong singer and comedic performer. Vocal range: F2–A4.

Gretchen Wieners: A member of The Plastics who is desperate to maintain Regina’s approval and her place within the group. Gretchen is anxious, talkative, and always ready with someone else’s secrets. Her insecurity and vulnerability should remain visible beneath the comedy. Vocal range: G3–D5.

Karen Smith: A sweet, relaxed, and delightfully naïve member of The Plastics. Karen may not be academically gifted, but she is genuinely kind and often provides some of the show’s biggest comic moments. Requires excellent comedic timing. Vocal range: G3–Gb5.

Aaron Samuels: A popular student with an easygoing personality, a good moral compass, and more backbone than people initially expect. Aaron becomes the focus of Cady’s attraction and Regina’s manipulation but does not want to be treated as a prize in their rivalry. Contemporary Broadway/pop vocalist. Vocal range: B2–Bb4.

Mrs. Heron/Mrs. George/Ms. Norbury: One versatile performer portrays three distinctly different adults: Cady’s intelligent and concerned mother; Regina’s boundary-free “cool mom”; and Ms. Norbury, the sharp, world-weary calculus teacher who recognizes Cady’s potential. Requires strong character work, comedic versatility, and a flexible musical-theatre voice. Vocal range: G3–Eb5.

Mr. Duvall: The overwhelmed principal of North Shore High School. Mr. Duvall is doing his best to manage the chaos of the student body despite being hilariously underprepared for the realities of teenage conflict. Strong comedic actor and singer.

Kevin Gnapoor: The ambitious, self-assured captain of the North Shore Mathletes. Kevin is intelligent, energetic, confident, and an adept rapper. Strong sense of rhythm and comic presence required.

Featured Roles and Ensemble: A dynamic ensemble portrays the students, teachers, Mathletes, athletes, partygoers, and other members of the North Shore community. The ensemble is heavily featured throughout the production and requires strong singers, dancers, actors, and comedic performers. Additional featured roles and solos may be assigned from the ensemble.
