“Singin’ in the Rain” Local Auditions--LaComedia Dinner Theatre in Springboro, Ohio, is holding an open call audition for its upcoming production of SINGIN IN THE RAIN on Saturday, November 22nd, at 9:00am at 765 W. Central Ave. Springboro, Ohio.
SEEKING (all ethnicities are encouraged to audition)
Don Lockwood: (Male 25-45) A suave Hollywood actor and dancer. Cosmo’s best friend and Lina’s regular co-star. Strong tap skills. Baritone. Range G2-Ab4
Cosmo Brown: (Male 25-45) A wacky and playful on-set pianist for silent films. Don’s best friend and former dance partner. Strong tap skills. Tenor/high baritone. Range Db3-Ab4
Kathy Selden: (Female 25-30) An earnest, talented actress with whit and charm. She falls in love with Don and performs as Lina’s speaking and singing voice. Strong tap skills. Soprano. Range G3-F5
Lina Lamont: (Female 30-35) A slow-witted silent film diva with a big personality and a harshly unpleasant voice. She is Don’s regular co-star. Range C4-Eb5, Belt voice to F
R.F. Simpson: (Male 50-65) A successful studio head, magnanimous, film producer. He leads the other characters in creating a new movie musical.
Rosco Dexter: (Male 30-50) A famous film director with theatrical mannerisms and tendencies. Frequently frazzled and works with Lina and Don.
Zelda Zanders: (Female 30-40). A flapper socialite and actress on her ninth marriage, she is Lina’s friend and informant.
Rod: (Male 35-45) An excitable film agent bordering on manic. He works for Simpson
Production Singer: (Male 25-40) The lead tenor in Monumental Picture’s first movie musical. Tenor. Range Db3-Ab4
Miss Dinsmore: (Female 45-55) Lina’s vocal coach. She is the “mother hen” type with caring affection for the younger performers.
Ensemble (18 and older, all genders and ethnicities) Movie stars, film crew, actors. Members of the ensemble play featured roles with lines and vocal solos. The members of the ensemble need to be strong singers and movers/dancers as they will be used in many capacities throughout the show.
Prepare 16 bars of music in the style of the show. Be prepared for a dance/tap call. (Please bring tap shoes.) You may be asked to cold read from the script.
Rehearsals: February 2nd, 2026-February 14th, 2026(Mon-Sat 9am-6pm.)
Tech: February 16th – 18th.
Performances: February 19th-March 29th, 2026. Thurs-Sun matinees and evenings.
Rehearsal and performance conflicts will not be accepted.
Performers are paid biweekly. Meal each performance, gum membership, worker's comp provided.
