CAST BREAKDOWN: Note: The characters of Phyllis and Leslie will be played by the same actor.
Sylvia (20-35) Female - A dog, maybe a Labradoodle. Street smart and a little flirtatious, she commands every room she enters. The role is physically demanding: the actor will walk as a person but must act like a dog, e.g. “sitting”, “rolling over” and climbing on furniture.
Greg (45-65) Male - A middle-aged, empty-nester and finance professional who is looking for more meaning in his life. He finds and bonds deeply with Sylvia.
Kate (45-65) Female - Greg's wife, a public school English teacher who is less enthusiastic about Sylvia and is looking forward to newfound independence as her children leave home.
Tom (Any age) Male - A man Greg meets at the dog park who offers advice.
Phyllis (45-65) Female - A socialite and old school friend of Kate’s. She is put off by Sylvia, to say the least.
Leslie (35-60) Non-Binary - A gender-non-conforming marriage counselor whom Greg and Kate consult.
