TILLY EVANS (appears to be 16) Agnes’ younger sister who became fascinated with the dark arts, i.e. magic, dragons, and conquering evil. She was an avid player of Dungeons and Dragons.

AGNES EVANS (appears 20s) In her mind, she’s average in every way in an average family and town. She had typical interests – boys, music, popular TV shows. The story is about how the average girl finds a way out. Later, she is a 24-year-old high school English teacher.

CHUCK BIGGS (appears to be a teenager old enough to hold a job) A nerdy teen who works at the RPG gaming store. Into Grunge rock. Considers himself an expert on Dungeons and Dragons. Might be pudgy or slightly overweight or just a big guy.

MILES (early 20s) Agnes’ boyfriend who also becomes Agnes’ Dungeon Master.

LILITH/LILLY (appears to be a teenager) A scantily clad Demon Queen and a “perfect combination of both beauty and brawn.” Violence makes her hot. Later we see her as a 17-year-old high school girl.

KALIOPE/KELLY (appears to be a teenager) A Dark Elf. Athletic. Attractive. A skilled tracker. As Kelly, she is Ronnie’s sister who has cerebral palsy.

VERA/EVIL GABBI/VERA THE BEHOLDER (appears 20s and later, a teen) A high school guidance counselor; a succubus; later, a regular cheerleader. The Beholder is a ferocious single eye-balled monster with shark-like teeth.

NARRATOR, EVIL TINA, FARRAH THE FAERIE (late teens) Small and cute, but a total badass forest faerie. “Kicking the crap” out of adventurers makes her happiest; a succubus; later, a regular cheerleader.

STEVE (appears to be 17-18) An adventurer. A high school student.

ORCUS/RONNIE A former demon overlord of the underworld who lives in a cave. He’s red with horns. He loves TV and Cheez-Whiz. Later, Ronnie is a high school kid who was one of Tilly’s friends.

SYNOPSIS:

A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
