RIVERSIDE THEATRE FOR KIDS!

Announces Online Auditions for Summer 2020 Shows

There is an adage in the theater – “the show must go on” – that encourages perseverance when challenges present themselves. Riverside Theatre for Kids is determined to continue its planning for productions this summer and are taking submissions of online auditions for Disney’s Moana JR. and Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

“Because of COVID-19 precautions, we will be administering auditions online for Disney’s Moana JR. and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” said Kevin Quillinan, Director of Theatre Education.

“Once all of this has passed it will be refreshing to get back to putting on shows again, and these two shows will be the perfect entertainments we've all been craving. Disney’s Moana JR. is a positive tale about a girl who wants so much more than to stay cooped up on her island. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is an incredibly joyous and uplifting show about persevering through extreme adversity. I think most of us can relate to both of those themes these days.

“Both shows also have amazing songs from Broadway luminaries: Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) for Moana JR., and Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera, Evita) for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

“In the meantime, it will be nice to cast these shows and start working with the students online as much as is possible - I know they must be craving to see each other again!”

A Treasure Coast premiere, Disney’s Moana JR., based on the popular animated film, will be a fully staged performance on the Stark Stage at the end of June followed by Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in July.

Audition Video submissions are now being accepted. For the initial video audition, kids are asked to prepare 32 measures of an up-tempo song, preferably from a Disney film or modern musical, to be sung a’capella (without a CD or accompanist). Those who audition are recommended to be ages 8 and up.

Once audition video for Disney’s Moana JR. is completed, those auditioning are asked to fill out the online audition form at
www.riversidetheatre.com/audition-form and send the video to
KevinQ@Riversidetheatre.com NO LATER THAN 4pm on April 16, 2020. Once the submission is received, Director Kevin Quillinan will email if any more information is needed. Callbacks will be run through the Zoom meeting app, with details emailed later to those called back.

The deadline for auditioning for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is 4pm on April 23, 2020.
