Auditions for Much Ado About Nothing
FEBRUARY 2-3, 2026
For your Much Ado About Nothing audition, please select ONE of the provided Shakespearean monologues (or any other Shakespearean monologue, including from Much Ado About Nothing itself) to perform, without regard to gender or age assignment of a given character. Pick one that speaks to you, and that you think you can do well!
The director would like to encourage you to familiarize yourself with the full play of whichever monologue you select, to memorize the text of the monologue itself, and to present it at your best performance level.
That said, you are more than welcome to audition the monologue 'cold' or straight from the page, and there will be hard copies of these monologues at the audition for you to use. You won't be penalized for performing a monologue this way, but please keep in mind that it might be more difficult for the director to accurately gauge your aptitude for the material.
Lastly -- you'll be asked on your sign in sheets if you have any singing or musical instrument experience, and if the director feels it's appropriate, he might ask to hear 8-10 bars of a song vocal. Again, feel free to 'wing it', but if you'd like to prepare for this eventuality, please do so.
