  • AUDITIONS NOW OPEN! Calling all budding community and emerging dance groups and artists. Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, with support from the theatre’s South Asian ambassadors, present JUST NAACH WOLVERHAMPTON – a competition to celebrate South Asian Dance in Wolverhampton and The Black Country.


Auditions are now open for Wolverhampton Grand Theatre’s premiere South Asian dance competition, JUST NAACH WOLVERHAMPTON, which will be held on Saturday 1 October.


The live celebration of South Asian Dance in Wolverhampton and The Black Country will be hosted by BBC’s Qasa Alom. An exciting panel of judges from the world of dance will also be announced soon. Whether you plan to enter or support from your seat, JUST NAACH WOLVERHAMPTON will be a thrilling evening for all involved. Cheer for your favourite act and find out who will be crowned Wolverhampton’s first South Asian Dance champion!

Bollywood, Bhangra, Regional Folk, Indian Classical and South Asian Fusion are just some of the styles that make up the wonderful world of South Asian Dance. Whether you are a solo performer, youth group or school group all entries are welcome. It is free to enter with entries closing on 1 August 2022. Fifteen lucky finalists will get to perform on the main stage at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in front of the panel of judges and the live audience. The winning performer or group will win 50 tickets to the pantomime Aladdin at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in December as well as a winner’s trophy.

Associate Director for Audiences & Development at the Grand Theatre, Vicky Price said; “Wolverhampton has a vibrant culture and at the Grand Theatre we celebrate the talents of our local communities. We look forward to showcasing the best in South Asian Dance from Midlands’ talent in the inaugural event, Just Naach. We are excited to welcome performers and audiences, new and existing, to Grand Theatre this October.”

Admired by performers and audiences alike for its friendly welcome and intimate three-tiered Victorian auditorium, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre opened in 1894 and is a long-established theatre in the heart of the Midlands. It receives a wide range of major touring productions including drama, musicals, ballet, dance, opera, variety, concerts, children’s shows and one of the biggest pantomimes in the UK, with audiences from across the region and beyond taking advantage of excellent transport links to the town.


Through extensive Creative Learning and Access work, the Grand Theatre strives to reach even more people through the magic of theatre. Wolverhampton Grand Theatre’s artistic vision has recently given emphasis to re-establishing the theatre’s history of producing quality in-house theatre for the people of Wolverhampton and beyond.
