Character Descriptions
Eleanor Bander: The protagonist, a middle-aged woman and 15-year divorcee who is struggling financially. She decides her best hope is to reconcile with her wealthy ex-husband, Walter, and concocts an elaborate scheme to get him back.
Walter Bander: Eleanor's ex-husband, a successful businessman. After his second wife's death, Eleanor tries to lure him back. He is smart, can be stubborn, and loves his daughter.
Elizabeth Bander: Eleanor and Walter's daughter, a sensible and sharp young woman who is stressed about her upcoming wedding. She is engaged for the fifth time to the same long-suffering man, Vince.
Vince Setzer: Elizabeth's beleaguered fiancé, a high school biology teacher. He is a genuinely good guy whose patience with Elizabeth's indecisiveness and her family's antics is wearing thin.
Elma Blue Williams: Eleanor's sassy and good-natured best friend and neighbor. She and Eleanor have a fun chemistry and playfully bicker throughout the play.
Gretchen Hiller: Walter's new girlfriend, a rival of Eleanor's from their high school days. Her presence further complicates Eleanor's plot.
Dr. Fred Abernathy: A gossipy and slightly sleazy married optometrist who has a wandering eye for other women
