The Community Stage at Arc Stages presents Auditions for Crimes of the Heart.

A tender yet darkly funny Southern drama about three estranged sisters in Mississippi who come together after a family crisis, each reckoning with their past mistakes and personal struggles.

AUDITION DATES
Wednesday, September 2 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Tuesday, September 8 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Crimes of the Heart is a Community Stage production, non-union only.

All auditions, rehearsals and performances take place at Arc Stages at 147 Wheeler Ave, Pleasantville, NY 10570. The theater is located just a few blocks walking distance from the Pleasantville Metro-North Train Station.

Open to ages 18+

Note: Callbacks will be Thursday, September 10 (by invitation only)

What to Prepare:

Please prepare a one minute contemporary monologue.

Bring a photo and résumé detailing your theatre experience, or be prepared to list your performance experience.
We will rehearse weekday evenings and some weekends, approximately 3 times a week. All actors will not be called for every rehearsal.

Bring your schedule and be prepared to list conflicts through Sunday, November 22, 2026.

Crimes of the Heart Character Breakdown

Lenny MaGrath: The eldest sister at age 30; she is deeply insecure, dutifully cares for their dying grandfather, and feels left behind with a shriveled romantic life.

Meg MaGrath: The middle sister; a former local singing star who fled to Hollywood, suffered a nervous breakdown, and hides her inner emptiness behind a glamorous, reckless exterior.

Becky (Babe) Botrelle: The youngest sister at age 24; she triggers the plot by shooting her abusive husband, displaying an erratic, childlike innocence and vulnerability.

Barnette Lloyd: Babe's young, intense defense lawyer who holds a personal grudge against Babe's husband and is fiercely protective of Babe.

Doc Porter: Meg’s former high school boyfriend who stayed in town, married, and had a family, but still shares an unresolved spark with Meg.

Chick Boyle: The sisters' critical, socially-conscious first cousin who worries constantly about family embarrassment and scandal.
