COME FROM AWAY - Chattanooga Theatre Centre Non Equity Auditions

Come From Away is based on the true story of the time when the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland, played host to the world. What started as an average day in a small town turned into an international sleepover, when 38 planes, carrying thousands of people from around the globe, were diverted to Gander’s airstrip on September 11, 2001. Undaunted by culture clashes and language barriers, the people of Gander cheered the stranded travelers with music, an open bar and the recognition that we’re all part of a global family.

You will be taught all the necessary music and movement combinations on the night of your audition.

• Please dress to move: Wear comfortable clothing that allows for full range of motion.

• Footwear: You are welcome to bring dance shoes for the choreography portion, though they are not required. Please avoid open-toed shoes or non-dance heels.

ROLES AVAILABLE: 12–15 adult actors (ages 18+) will be cast.

AGES: Most roles call for actors who appear 40 or older, with a few roles for actors who read as being in their 20s and 30s.

RACE & ETHNICITY: Come From Away brings the whole world to one small town, and we want our cast to reflect that. All heritages and ethnicities are celebrated in this production. We especially encourage performers from MENA (Middle Eastern and North African), Black, Latine, Indigenous, and Asian communities to audition.

DANCE & PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Choreography for this production will celebrate each performer's individual range of motion and physical expression. We welcome people of all physical abilities, and we encourage you not to let prior dance experience - or preconceptions about it - keep you from auditioning.

MULTIPLE ROLES: Each actor will play several characters, often shifting between distinct accents and dialects throughout the show.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Prior experience is not required. We encourage everyone with an interest, passion, and curiosity to audition!
