Open Auditions for Wilmington Drama League's 2018 production of Oscar-winner Tarell Alvin McCraney’s “CHOIR BOY.” Show runs February 16th to 18th. Directed by Mikal K. Odom.
Set at an elite prep school for African-American youth, “CHOIR BOY” centers around five members of the school’s celebrated choir. The choir’s gifted, and effeminate, new leader, Pharus, is ready to take on the new school year with ambitious ideas. However, his fellow choir members have differing views on both him and his ideas. Will Pharus conform to expectations or stay true to himself and gain the respect he deserves?
Seeking the following talent:
• 5 Black (i.e. of African descent or POC) male actor/singers, ages 16-25, to play high school students. Must be able to sing and harmonize A capella. Looking for a variety of voice types and tones: tenor, baritone, bass, etc. Dance/movement experience or training a plus, but not mandatory. NOTE: One of these roles, the lead, is gay.
• 1 Black male actor with a 'father figure’ quality, late 30’s and up, to play school headmaster. Must be able to sing A capella as well.
• 1 White male actor, 50’s and up, to play a school professor.
Open auditions will take place on Monday, December 4th and Monday, December 11th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at:

Be prepared to sing a song A capella that best shows your voice and personality. A 1-2 minute monologue is encouraged, but not required. Callbacks, if invited, will be on the evening of 12/13. All roles are non-paid.
