About the show:
1776 is a powerful, funny, and deeply human story about the people behind the birth of our nation, and we are thrilled to bring it to life with our community.
We invite performers of all backgrounds and experience levels who have a passion for storytelling, strong ensemble work, and bold character choices to audition. Our goal is to create a collaborative, respectful, and energetic rehearsal environment where history is honored and artists are supported. We look forward to meeting you and sharing this exciting journey together.
Audition Requirements
• Prepare 16–32 bars of music, preferably from 1776.
• If you are interested in a specific role, please prepare a song sung by that character.
We will be casting 26 performers: • 24 men • 2 women
Note: Gender reflects historical roles rather than performer identity.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsal days and times will be decided collaboratively by the cast and production team and discussed at the first meet-and-greet. Rehearsals will begin immediately thereafter.
• Rehearsals will generally be two times per week initially.
• As we get closer to opening, additional rehearsals (including individual scenes or leads) may be requested and will be coordinated with the cast.
Tech Week & Performance Schedule:
Tech Week: August 2–5, 2026
Performances: August 7–9, 2026
• Sunday, August 2: Sitzprobe at 10:00 AM Rehearsal 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Monday–Wednesday, August 3–5: Rehearsals 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM Dress rehearsals on August 4 & 5
• Thursday, August 6: Night off
• Friday, August 7: Call 5:30 PM | Show 7:00 PM
• Saturday, August 8: Call 12:00 PM | Show 2:00 PM Break Call 5:30 PM | Show 7:00 PM
• Sunday, August 9: Call 12:00 PM | Show 2:00 PM Strike immediately following the performance
