Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Jr. Set for the Roxy Regional Theatre, 5/17-6/1

By:

Go "under the sea" this summer with the Roxy Regional School of the Arts in Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Jr., opening Friday, May 17, at 6pm.

Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film, THE LITTLE MERMAID Jr. tells the story of the beautiful young mermaid Ariel (Ashley Knowles), who longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton (Tristan Sartor), make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula (Sidney McCarty), and convince Prince Eric (Truman Jepson) that she's the girl with the enchanting voice.

The hit songs "Part of Your World," "She's In Love" and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea" come to life through the talents of fellow School of the Arts students Summer Aoki, Ali Arnold, Sydney Barksdale, Gavin Berlyak, Jesse Boyle, Addisyn Bryant, Kourtni Cottrell, Lauren Creighton, Olivia Creighton, Grace Davis, Cheyenne Deibert, Ariana Desrosier, Ian Erbe, Alison Ferebee, Whitney Flickinger, Darcy Gautam, Autumn Gordon, Samantha Grimes, Ehma Herrera, Vivian Hurn, Jacob Johnson, Ana-Leigh Kirwin, Patrick Long, Annalise Martin, Katherine McCarty, Lauren Mund, Madeline O'Connor, Nicole Powell, Christian Rieke, Georgia Smith, Garrett Taylor, Mitchell Wolfe, Taylor Wyatt and Amy Wyer.

Directed by Tom Thayer and choreographed by Jessica Davidson, this beloved Disney classic features stunning costumes by Debby Dowlen, music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and book by Doug Wright, with music adapted and arranged by David Weinstein.

On Saturday, May 18 and May 25, patrons are invited to "Ariel's Sea Party" to meet Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder and the gang for some fairytale fun before the show. The party starts at noon across the street at Edward's (107 Franklin Street) with lunch (chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, pb&j sandwiches, beverage and dessert), crown and scepter decorating, and more! Tickets are $25 for the package including the 2pm performance of THE LITTLE MERMAID Jr. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Jr. runs May 17 through June 1, playing Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6pm, and Saturdays at 2pm and 6pm. All tickets are $10 and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931)645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9am to 2pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).
