UNE EXCELLENTE TRILOGIE SUR LA VIE to Play La Chapelle

By: Nov. 09, 2017

Une excellente trilogie sur la vie (An Awesome Trilogy about Life) is a performative autobiographical theatrical solo work that seeks to question our relationship to time (past, present, future) as human beings.

The show manifests as a staged work and installation in which the performer reveals three scenic tableaux of key moments in his life : a ritual that attempts to return him to childhood, a struggle with the present taking the form of a visual and perceptual hallucination, and finally, a fantastic landscape of an uncertain future.

"It started as a solo on the notion of nostalgia that was created in a residency. I was inspired by my early childhood, when I was still living in France. Almost simultaneously, I wound up working on another solo that was about success/adulthood, even thought I had just finished school. It seemed obvious that the next step would be to talk about what I don't know yet, by which I mean aging (or the future, as you will). I've been working on this project for almost 3 years now and it has manifested as a 'show' without my realizing it - almost as if, unbeknownst to me, I had trained a wild animal." - Thomas Duret
