Single Tickets For Hennepin Theatre Trust's MARY POPPINS Go On Sale Today 6/11
Hennepin Theatre Trust and producers Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh announced today that single tickets for the long-awaited production of Mary Poppins will go on sale to the public Thursday, June 11, 2009. From 8 to 10 a.m., tickets will only be available in person at the State Theatre Box Office. The first 100 ticket buyers at the State Theatre box office will receive a Mary Poppins umbrella. Beginning at 10 a.m., tickets will also be sold online through HennepinTheatreTrust.org, by calling 1-800-982-2787 and at all Ticketmaster locations. Mary Poppins is presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust as part of its 2009/10 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis season.
Minneapolis's most eagerly awaited stage production will begin performances at the Orpheum Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 for a limited engagement of three weeks through Sunday, Sept. 20. Press opening night is Friday, Sept. 4. Original Broadway stars Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee, along with the entire original creative team, have reunited to bring this magical story of the world's most famous nanny to audiences around North America. Mary Poppins opened on Broadway on November 16, 2006. Based on P.L. Travers' cherished stories and the classic 1964 Walt Disney film, Mary Poppins features the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. The stage production has been created, in collaboration with Cameron Mackintosh, by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, who has written the book, and the Olivier Award-winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who have composed new songs and additional music and lyrics.
Tickets range in price from $25 to $83 depending on performance time and seating preference. Special Premium Ticket Packages are available for $133.50 at select performances and include premium seating and a complimentary souvenir program. Performance dates for Mary Poppins are Thursday, Sept. 3-Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 at the Orpheum Theatre, 910 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, 55403. Show times are Tuesday-Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 1 and 6:30 p.m.
