FREUD’S LAST SESSION Makes Michigan Premiere 9/7
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Freud's Last Session, the award-winning, Off-Broadway hit play by Mark St. Germain (suggested by The Question of God by Dr. Armand M. Nicholi, Jr.), will debut at the Century Theatre Wednesday, Sept. 7 - Nov. 20 with 10 weeks of thought-provoking performances. Freud's Last Session will kick off the Gem & Century Theatres 20th Anniversary Season.
Freud's Last Session is a clever two-man play that centers on legendary psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud, who invites a young, little-known professor, C.S. Lewis, to his home in London. Lewis, expecting to be called on the carpet for satirizing Freud in a recent book, soon realizes Freud has a much more significant agenda. On the day England enters World War II, Freud and Lewis clash on the existence of God, love, sex and the meaning of life - only two weeks before Freud chooses to take his own. Humorous and well written, Freud's Last Session, a beautifully presented and provocative play, will have audiences thinking as the two characters assert theories, tell jokes and plunge into tantalizing debates of opposing disciplines. Freud's Last Session, winner of the 2011 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play, stars Mitch Greenberg as Dr. Freud and Cory Krebsbach as C.S. Lewis, under the direction of Tyler Marchant.
