Multi-platinum country music artist Blake Shelton turns up the heat while performing songs from his new album Startin' Fires when MATRIX:MIDLAND Festival presents Blake Shelton Live in Concert on Sunday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Midland Center for the Arts, 1801 W. St. Andrews Rd., Midland, MI. Shelton tackles songs about country life and attitudes with joyful assurance in emotion-laden ballads like "Home," "Austin," "She Wouldn't Be Gone" and "The Baby" and light-hearted party anthems like "Some Beach" and "The More I Drink." Tickets cost $37 and $47 and are available online at www.mcfta.org or by calling 800-523-7649. Meet friends and unwind at the Garden Pub & Patio before the show, where beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase, beginning at 6 p.m.

With the release of Startin' Fires, his fifth and latest CD, Blake advances into the forefront as one of the country's premiere vocalists and one of its true personalities. The success of his 2008 chart-topping single "Home" provided a huge career step forward, establishing Blake as one of country music's most talented and versatile song stylists. "I think this album is probably more autobiographical than anything I've ever done," he says. That autobiographical tone kicks off the album in his rollicking tribute to the country life, "Green." "That's what I do," he says of the song's rural images. "I sit with my guitar, plant corn and watch the deer and hawks. When I left the house this morning, there was camouflage hanging on the clothesline - as redneck as it gets. And it's funny, the lifestyle I've lived for years and years has become the new green movement. It's my favorite song on the album because I can sing it with a big smile on my face, confident that people are getting a hundred percent who I am as a person."
