Actors' Playhouse Now Accepting Enrollment for its Spring Theatre Classes

By:

Actors' Playhouse Theatre Conservatory hosts year-round theatre arts training programs for children, teens, and adults to hone their skills in acting for theatre, camera and musical theatre, as well as develop self esteem and greater communication skills. All conservatory programs are limited in size, offering personal training to all participants.

Actors' Playhouse is currently accepting students for its Spring Conservatory Session. Actors' Playhouse Conservatory classes are structured to offer continued growth and enrichment as the student progresses through the program. The curriculum also offers a variety of courses that allow the actors to focus on their individual skills and interests, including Just Act, Adult Acting, Lights, Camera, Action I (taught by Lauren Green of the Green & Green Talent Agency), Let's Make Believe I & II, Song and Dance, and Musical Theatre I & II. Spring Session takes place March 13 through May 24, 2010. Ages, fees and times vary. Intermediate and advanced adult acting classes are available as well.

Also accepting enrollment is the Spring Break Mini-Camp, which offers students five days of concentrated study of theatre, including warm-up and audition techniques, theatre games, improvisation, music and dance. In addition, students will have an opportunity to perform at the end of the week for family and friends. The fee for this camp is $300. Mini-camp is for students ages 7-12 and takes place March 29 through April 2, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early drop-off and late pick-up options are available for an additional fee.

Actors' Playhouse's Children's Summer Theatre Camp is also currently enrolling. Students can discover many aspects of theatre in this fun and popular four-week camp. They develop team spirit working in repertory with other aspiring young actors. Imagination and creativity are encouraged through development and writing of original monologues and scenes. Additionally, the curriculum includes acting, theatre games, music, movement, improvisation and scene study. Our professional staff is assisted by guest artists who teach mime, make-up, scenic and costume design. In the final week of camp, the campers will perform a show of their own creation for family and friends. Camp is for children ages 7-12. Session I takes place June 14 through July 9, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Session II occurs July 12 through August 6, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fee for this four-week camp is $850 and includes t-shirt and group photo. Early drop-off and late pick-up options are available for an additional fee.

Unique among Actors' Playhouse's programs is the Teen One-Act Showcase, which offers students the opportunity to study audition techniques and then audition for, rehearse, and perform in a published one-act play. Tied in with this production regimen, the students receive ongoing instruction in acting techniques and script analysis. Here, they have a chance to create, polish, and present fully developed, well-rounded characters in the presentation of a play in front of a live audience on the last day of class. This course is offered for students ages 13 to 18 and takes place June 28 through August 6, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The fee is $400.

Actors' Playhouse Conservatory students have appeared on Broadway and in regional theatres. Actors' Playhouse Children's Theatre Director Earl Maulding leads a team of highly qualified experienced theatre professionals with college degrees assisted by guest artists who teach the children all the theatre disciplines.

Actors' Playhouse is a not-for-profit professional Equity theatre committed to offering the highest caliber theatre-training program benefiting students of all ages.
