On Friday, July 26 at 6:30 PM, the Orpheum's Summer Movie Series kicks off its 2nd Annual Fright Night Double Feature with a special edition of "Beyond the Screen with Indie Memphis" hosted by award-winning Memphis filmmaker Chris McCoy. At 7:00 PM, WKNO's Professor Ghoul will take the stage to introduce the Fright Night Double Feature: GHOSTBUSTERS followed by POLTERGEIST.

Chris McCoy is a local writer, director, producer, and consultant whose work is consistently featured in the annual Indie Memphis Film Festival. His most recent documentary, Antenna, garnered two Indie Memphis Awards as well as a Special Jury Prize at the Oxford Film Festival. For "Beyond the Screen," McCoy will discuss the exciting golden age of "Genre Cinema" that characterized early 80s filmmaking.

"I'm proud to be a part of this year's Movie Series, which I have been attending for many years," says McCoy. "This 'Beyond the Screen' will allow audiences to understand how the early 1980s produced so many great horror, fantasy, and science fiction movies, and why GHOSTBUSTERS and POLTERGEIST have so much staying power."

After 'Beyond the Screen,' Professor Ghoul, host of WKNO's weekly series "Professor Ghoul's Horror School," will introduce the evening's features and debut an exclusive clip just for Fright Night audiences.

In the family-friendly spook-comedy GHOSTBUSTERS, three odd-ball scientists get kicked out of their cushy positions at a university in New York City where they studied the occult. They decide to set up shop in an old firehouse and become Ghostbusters, trapping pesky ghosts, spirits, haunts, and poltergeists for money. They wisecrack their way through the city, and stumble upon a gateway to another dimension which will release untold evil upon the city. The Ghostbusters are called on to save the Big Apple.

POLTERGEIST, a 1982 horror classic, follows a young family that is visited by ghosts in their home. At first the ghosts appear friendly, moving objects around the house to the amusement of everyone, but they soon turn nasty, terrorizing the family before they "kidnap" the youngest daughter.

For this special double feature event, the Orpheum will add Domino's Pizza to its regular concessions menu. Tickets are on sale now and available for purchase online at the official Orpheum Theatre website, www.orpheum-memphis.com, The Orpheum Box Office (901.525.3000), the ticket counter at The Booksellers at Laurelwood, and all Ticketmaster centers (901.743.ARTS).

The Orpheum Theatre's 2013 Summer Movie Series, presented for a second year by Orion Federal Credit Union, commemorates the theatre's 85th Anniversary with the best-loved films of the past eight decades. The series will run until August at the Orpheum Theatre.
