Cervantes' magnificent novel Don Quixote has been translated into dozens of languages and has served as a point of departure for dozens of musical compositions, none more famous than Strauss' depiction of this clumsy yet lovable knight on horseback. The eminent Austrian cellist Clemens Hagen takes on the fiendishly difficult solo role representing the title character.
