Penobscot Theatre Company to Kick Off Dramatic Academy Winter 2014 Session, 1/7

Penobscot Theatre has announced the addition of a Winter Session of Dramatic Academy to its programming! Classes, workshops, and vacation camps for children, teens, and adults will be offered during the months of January and February.

For youth, Tiny Thespians (4-6 yrs old) and Youth Troupe (ages 7 - 13) will have the opportunity to participate in an adaptation of the C.S. Lewis story The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Directed by resident teaching artist Ben Layman, this production will highlight PTC's new community partnership with the Union Street BRick Church where all classes and performances will be held.

Tiny/Youth Winter Session: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

Tiny Thespian Classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays Jan. 7th - Feb. 20th 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Youth Troupe Classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays Jan. 7th - Feb20th 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Performances: Feb 21, 22, & 23

Also available to youth is PTC's February Vacation Camp. Students may join any or all days of "one off" classes focusing on a variety of theater topics. Each day has a special theme and features a guest artist and a brief showcase for family and friends of that day's studies. A great way to for beginners to explore PTC's programs and for returning students to see theater friends during the school vacation, February vacation camp will be held the 17th - 21st. from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Dramatic Academy will also continue its very popular Master Class Series for teens and adults during the Winter Session. January will feature Director of Education Jasmine A. Ireland leading a workshop focusing on Audition Technique. Participants are asked to bring an example of their resume, headshot, and a one minute monologue. The Audition Technique Master Class will be held January 18th from 10 - 12:30 p.m. at the Bangor Opera House. In February, the Master Class workshop will focus on New Play Development. In anticipation of PTC's upcoming production of One Blue Tarp both the playwright (Travis Baker) and the director (Dan Burson) will be leading this workshop discussing the process of writing and developing a new play. Be the first to get in on the ground floor of the process! New Play Development will be held February 8th from 10 - 12:30 p.m.
