On 31 January 2012, the young band We Are Animal will make a stopover at the Rockhalcafe for a free showcase concert. It's has only been two years since this dynamic Welsh group began recording & gigging together. Now, they will be presenting their new EP "Tacla" written and recorded in their native mountainous region.
We Are Animal hail from North Wales near Mount Snowdon where they trek off into the Welsh wilds to walk, contemplate and put together the music and melodies that make up the bands sound. Impressively accomplished song writing and a knack for a great hook do everything to convince you that there is no way this band can only be a few months old.
But that's the long and the short of it, the band started in December 2009 and has been prolific both in their output and their live presence ever since. In keeping with this work ethic the band record all the songs the day they are written, bar one or two vocal parts, on a BOSS 8 track in various locations such as old quarries and abandoned buildings dotted around their native Welsh countryside. This unpretentious approach towards DIY methods of making and producing recordings means that the total sum of their output is something exciting, entrancing and shot through with a melodic coolness that is hard to quantify. If you're into bands like the Arctic Monkeys or Kasabian, this lot might be up your street.
Their new EP “Tacla” is a mix of rhythmic guitar vs. the simple repetitive beat of the drums accompanied by various percussion to maximise the groove layered with minimal electro lines and a straight forward melody.
We Are Animal are on the road beginning of the next year and are hoping to gain new fans in Luxembourg, as they will be performing a showcase concert at the Rockhalcafe on 31 January 2012. Don't forget to bring along your friends, as the entrance is free!
