Thousands of young women went to war on the Eastern Front of WWII. Among the most elite were the women of Night Bomber Regiment 588. In hushed fearful tones, the Nazis called them 'Nachthexen' (Night Witches)

At 16 Nina, a farm girl and amateur pilot, answers the call to war when the Nazi's invade the USSR. Nina makes a rough transition into womanhood during the most horrible war her country has ever seen. She leaves home to find one of the most terrifying times and places in history: The Eastern Front of WWII. She and her comrades embark on high risk bombing raids on the front line. They face sexism from their peers, incoming fire from the Nazis, and the looming threat of Stalinist policies. Through puppetry, combat, and humor, we pay tribute to the bravery and sacrifices faced by this regiment.

The horrors and triumphs of Soviet ground troops, snipers, and pilots are played in a fast-paced, foul-mouthed, full-hearted cacophony. Set to a heavy metal soundtrack and presented with the San Francisco based Trillpeddlers signature style puppetry simulating air strikes. Producer Mandi Moss (Hearts Like Fists, FUBAR, Food For Fish) is proud to bring this darkly funny play about woman whose place in history hasn't seen enough attention, brought to life by a biting script, a top notch cast and an unexpected soundtrack.

"Will McMichael is not just bringing a remarkable true tale to life, he's doing it with a powerhouse team that will do justice to his hilarious, adrenalized script."
