AteNine Artistic Director Danielle Agami today announced that the company has joined forces with composer / musician Glenn Kotche, the renowned percussionist for Grammy® award-winning band Wilco, for an exciting new production: Calling Glenn. The full-length work makes its Los Angeles debut for one night only at UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance (CAP UCLA) at Royce Hall, UCLA, Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. For tickets, please visit cap.ucla.edu or call 310-825-2101.

"We couldn't be more excited to collaborate with Glenn on this innovative piece of work and have the opportunity to create movement to his brilliant score," said Agami, a recent recipient of the prestigious Princess Grace Award. "As artists we have pushed our boundaries to create something that challenges audiences to see dance and its complex relationship to music from a different emotional vantage point."

"I'm very proud of the work that Danielle and I have been able to accomplish," Kotche said. "This collaboration has pushed me into new areas of discovery and I can't wait to perform it at Royce Hall."

Co-commissioned by arts philanthropists Catharine & Jeffrey Soros, Jill Steinberg and The Johnson Foundation, Calling Glenn has Agami and her company exposing the complexities of intimacy and communication within personal, daily routines. The uninhibited, raw nature of the work and its dynamic tempo changes allow the dancers to move through shapes that are simultaneously angular and fluid.

Percussionist Glenn Kotche collaborated with Agami to compose an original score for the work. In addition to being featured on five albums of the Grammy-award winning band Wilco, Kotche appears on over 80 recordings for a variety of artists, and writes music for a range of classical and post-classical ensembles. Seattle Theatre Group and Velocity Dance Center premiered Calling Glenn in March 2017 at The Moore Theatre in Seattle, Washington, where Kotche accompanied AteNine live on percussion.

Megan Stevenson of Seattle Dances described the work as "unexpected and innovative," adding that the production's lighting "blurred the line between stage and seat," while Kotche produced a "rich and varied" sound score.

Funds provided by the Kevin Jeske Young Artists Fund and Fariba Ghaffari. Additional funds were provided by Murray Hidary in support of CAP UCLA's Artists-in-Residence program. Co-commissioned by CAP UCLA and created as part of its Artists-in-Residence program.
