"It is with great enthusiasm each year that we introduce an artist, internationally, whose vision commemorates our upcoming award season, so it is an honor to present this year's artist whose work captures an exquisite beauty rich with natural imagery and a great South American perspective," said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "Walter Goldfarb's contemporary interpretation incorporates a colorful layering of visual splendor evoking a tapestry-like presentation that encompasses the fluidity, harmony and emotion that Latin music embodies."Born in Rio de Janeiro and studying at the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage (School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage), where he is now a painting instructor, Goldfarb's inspiration for his art varies from historical art references to religious iconography, literature and music. He is known for his juxtaposition of conventional painting and drawing against a variety of media including embroidery, jewels, tempera, charcoal, oil, and pastel. His series titled "Lysergic," inspired by the color and contrast of the Brazilian sunlight, is a blend of neo-impressionism and baroque influence and is the basis for his creation of the official 11th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards artwork. Achieving international status, Goldfarb's work has been exhibited in Italy, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the United States, and Venezuela. His newest solo exhibition will open in late September at the São Paulo International Art Biennial in Brazil.
