Wadsworth Theatre has added the film 'Agora' to the to the spring schedule for Reel Talk with Stephen Farber, the film series at the Wadsworth Theatre. 'Agora' will be presenTed May 24 at 7 pm at the Wadsworth Theatre. Other titles previously announced include 'Letters to Juliet' on May 10 and 'Holy Rollers' on May 17.

'Agora' is a large-scale epic from director Alejandro Amenabar, the Oscar-winning filmmaker of 'The Sea Inside.' Set in the 4th century A.D. in Alexandria, during the waning days of the Roman Empire, the film is a companion piece to earlier epics about Roman persecution of the Christians. In this historical drama, the newly powerful Christians are persecuting nonbelievers and Jews. Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz plays a brilliant mathematician and astronomer fighting to preserve the scientific wisdom of the ancient world against the crusading fundamentalist Christians. Max Minghella and Oscar Isaac co-star. Guest speakers are to be announced at a later date.

Reel Talk with Stephen Farber allows the film going public to be the first to sample some of the most exciting movies of 2010. This past year, Reel Talk members got an early look at several of the major Academy Award nominated films, including 'Up in the Air,' 'The Last Station,' 'The Young Victoria,' 'Julie & Julia,' 'In the Loop,' and 'The Cove.' The tradition continues this spring with the season's most provocative movies followed by revealing discussions with top actors and filmmakers after the screenings. Previous Reel Talk guests have included Jason Reitman, Michael Caine, Bonnie Arnold, Michael Sheen, Laura Linney, Nia Vardalos, John Cusack, Javier Bardem, Claire Danes, as well as major directors John Singleton, Donald Petrie, Bill Condon, Mira Nair, and Mike Leigh, and legendary producer Richard Zanuck.

Wadsworth Theatre is located on the Veterans Administration grounds, Bldg 226, 11301 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA. Prices are as follows: individual screening ticket: $20.00, student rush: $10.00 (one hour prior to screening with valid student ID).
