Veteran Director, Performer Denise Blasor reteams with Henry Ong to present the world-premiere of "The Blade of Jealousy," Ong's modern-day adaptation of Spanish Renaissance Playwright Tirso de Molina's madcap comedy "La Celosa De Si Misma" (Jealous of Herself) on stage now at The Whitefire Theater in NoHo.

Blasor is an Associate Artistic Director of Bilingual Foundation of the Arts (BFA), and previously served as Artistic Director of LADiversified. She has appeared extensively on stage as an actress, recently in The Madres at Skylight Theatre and in Chicago at the Victory Theatre and has directed in Los Angeles for over twenty years. Some of her favorites include House of Bernarda Alba, The Three Sisters, No Exit, Wild in Wichita, Blood Wedding, The Lost Child, Marisol and Anna in The Tropics. Recently she directed/choreographed the Multi Media piece Tormenta Omnis at the Craft & Folk Art Museum in collaboration with artist GRONK and the Passion Play Cristo Vive at the historic Million Dollar theatre & at the Orpheum Theatre. TV & Films include Snowfall, Coco, A Place Among the Dead directed by Juliet Landau, Noriega; God's Favorite with Bob Hoskins, Death in Granada with Andy Garcia. She's a recording Voice artist and her film, Dentro De La Casa De Bernarda Alba, was nominated by the Imagen Award Foundation in 2015 as Best Short.

She previously worked with Playwright Ong on the earlier staged readings at The Whitefire and The Odyssey Theater directs the cast of this full production in a high energy commedia dell'arte style harkening back to the golden age of Spanish theatre.

SYNOPSIS: Dashing Melchor moves to Los Angeles to court his online dating connection but unexpectedly falls in love with a mysterious veiled lady (Magdalena), and she with him. He later meets her sans veil but is unimpressed, thus igniting Magdalena's jealousy - of herself! A farcical tale of disguise and deception ensues.

Adapted by Internationally Produced Los Angeles Playwright Henry Ong (Madame Mao's Memories; Sweet Karma; Fabric; Ascent) from Tirso de Molina's "La Celosa De Si Misma" - originally translated in English by Harley Erdman.

"The Blade of Jealousy" stars Natalie Amenula, Cynthia Dane, Juan Haro, Eddie Mui, Carla Valina, and Terry Woodberry and features original music and sound design by Longo Chu, and is produced by The Whitefire Theatre and Artists Against Oppression.
