Check out the preview video for LOFT ENSEMBLE's premiere of TRAINWRECK, written and directed by Loft's Managing Director, Bree Pavey.

Step right up! Step right up! Enter the twisted Circus of the mind. Nothing is as it seems under the big top. If you become part of the act, will you be able to tell what is real and what is an illusion? Enter at your own risk. In the spirit of Loft's fall tradition, Pavey penned another play exploring dark themes and a haunting message. Having previously authored Will You Save Them? and Hammer of the Witches, both for Loft, she now explores the shadowy corridors of the psyche within the structure of the circus.

"I wanted to explore a struggle so many people in my life have to face and navigate every day," says Pavey. The play uses archetypes of circus personalities to represent aspects of an individual's personality and explores the inner conflicts and battles that can rage in the mind. Pavey explains, "We spend a great deal of time in the play navigating fear, both as an idea and as a character, and the impact it has on our decision making and relationships."

Mitch Rosander The piece is punctuated with several dance numbers, though Pavey cautions that it is not a musical: "In an effort to exemplify the way our thoughts can ebb and flow and evolve from one thing to another, I wanted to include a lot of specific movement to demonstrate the journey these characters are on."

Working with choreographer Cj Merriman, who was nominated this year for a Valley Theatre Award for Best Choreography for her work on Loft's 2017 production of Now or Neverland, the cast has been pushed into new territory with movement and physical expression.

As a director, Pavey was previously nominated for Best Direction for her work on Loft's 2016 production of King Lear starring Leon Russom, and her 2017 work directing Now or Neverland. She has also received nominations and awards as an actor. Pavey not only serves as Loft's Managing Director, but also as the full time Producing Director for the well established award winning The Blank Theatre in Hollywood.

The production features a roster of award winning designers including Linda Muggeridge (costumes), Tor Brown (lighting) and Angela Santori (wigs and makeup), who has also secured makeup sponsorship from NYX Cosmetics, Cinema Secrets and EBA Performance Makeup.

A true ensemble piece, TRAINWRECK features a solid cast of theatre newcomers and veterans alike: Anna Benz, Noah Copfer, Dantz DeBusk, Emma Deckers, Sean Durrie, Tyler Fairbank, Marian Gonzalez, Latiera Harmon, Emma Latimer, Katy Laughlin, Rachel Lemos, Sarah Nilsen, Kevin Padilla, Danielle Power, Benjamin Rawls, Mitch Rosander, Angela Santori and La'Vel Stacy.
