Two new plays have been added to The Blank Theatre's Living Room Series schedule. The Good Samaritan by Wendy McLeod, directed by Sylvia Cervantes Blush, will be presented on Monday, April 1, at 8pm and The Calm Before by Deborah Yarchun, directed by Warren Davis, will be presented on Monday, April 8, at 8pm. Performances are at The Blank's 2nd Stage Theatre, 6500 Santa Monica Boulevard (at Wilcox), in Hollywood, 90038.

The Good Samaritan: When H ctor, a Guatemalan teenager working at a nearby agri-business, hides in a college student's car, she has to figure out how to protect him.

Wendy MacLeod's newest play Slow Food recently premiered at Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, MA. Her play The Laugh Track is slated to be produced at ACT in Seattle. Women in Jeopardy!, which premiered at Geva Theatre, is now being presented across the country. Other plays include Sin, Schoolgirl Figure, The Water Children, Juvenilia, Things Being What They Are, and The House of Yes. She wrote a pilot for CBS and served as executive story editor on Ryan Murphy's first show, Popular. She is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama.

The Calm Before: A two-character father/daughter drama set in Rockport, TX on the night Hurricane Harvey makes landfall. Ellen desperately attempts to get her recalcitrant, disabled father, a conservative 65-year-old Navy SEAL, out. As the hurricane bears down, difficult parts of their past and their current ideological differences play out. The two brace themselves for a night of tough winds, tough love, and confronting uncomfortable truths.

Deborah Yarchun is a NYC-based playwright and a member of the 2018-19 Civilians' R&D Group. Her plays have been produced and developed across the United States and in Canada. Honors include two Jerome Fellowships at The Playwrights' Center, a 2017-18 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellowship, an EST/Sloan Commission, The Kennedy Center's Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award, the Richard Maibaum Playwriting Award, a residency at the William Inge Center for the Arts, and Women in the Arts & Media Coalition's 2019 Collaboration Award.

The Living Room Series (LRS) is a New Play Development program which embodies The Blank's commitment to developing new work by both established and emerging writers. Submissions by women, playwrights of color, and other under-represented voices are strongly encouraged. The Blank is firmly committed to supporting gender parity and diversity. The LRS has developed over 600 new plays. Many have later received productions at venues including Manhattan Theatre Club, Transport Group, Laguna Playhouse, Malibu Playhouse, The Colony Theatre, Primary Stages, Vineyard Theatre, LaMaMa ETC, and Brideswell Theatre in London.
