Theatre Unleashed presents OF MICE AND MEN

By:

Coming off the success of its 2017 opener Cannibals Alone, Theatre Unleashed is proud to present its next Main Stage show, Of Mice and Men, running April 6 to May 13 at The Belfry in North Hollywood.

Of Mice and Men is John Steinbeck's immortal tale of two migrant field workers looking for work on the California coast during the Great Depression-the intelligent but frustrated George, and Lennie, a sweet, strong man with a mental disability and a knack for getting into trouble. As they continue to chase the classic American Dream of settling down on their own piece of land, the unlikely pair soon comes across other characters who share in their desperate search for companionship and something greater out of life.

"I wanted to direct this play for its simplicity of story and depth of character," said Director Aaron Lyons. "For the inherent humor that is born out of loneliness and hardship. For the sheer tragedy-accidental or compassionately pointed-that topples the best laid plans. For the hope of coming together and building something pure and true and our own."

Lyons is an award-winning actor, director and designer who has worked in the theatre for 25-plus years in 48 different states and nine countries, making his creative home in L.A. for the past eight years.

"Of Mice and Men is a piece that has been a long time coming at Theatre Unleashed," said Artistic Director Jenn Scuderi Crafts. "Aaron is a close friend of the company and has wanted to direct this piece with us for years. I was inspired by his clear, specific, character-based vision for this remarkable show."

Following Of Mice and Men, in the summer, TU will head back to Hollywood Fringe with an updated version of one of its most popular shows The Spidey Project as well as a "choose your own adventure" show called Three Can Keep a Secret, where the audience determines where the show goes!
