Theater Of Note Celebrates 30th Anniversary With ALCESTE

Theatre of NOTE begins the celebration of its 30th Anniversary with the World Premiere of ALCESTE, written by B. Walker Sampson and directed by Darin Dahms. ALCESTE will preview on Thursday, February 3 at 8pm and will open on Friday, February 11 at 8pm and run through Saturday, March 12 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (just North of Sunset) in Hollywood.

ALCESTE is a free adaptation from Euripides, in which Alceste pits gods, ghosts, and superheroes with ordinary so-and-sos who make extraordinary sacrifices to try to tell the Future to consider itself. Objects are too brightly colored to see without squinting, while others remind us of people we're trying to forget. Boats and bathtubs roll in to where they have no business, and there's a terrible hissing that sounds like the end of things...

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST

B. WALKER SAMPSON (Playwright) Plays include: Absence of a House, Alceste, Assistance, Clear Across, Puppet Kafka, Roosevelt Island, Silent Steps: A Play with MacGuffins, Slouch, They All Look Like Bats in the Dark, and What Do You Think of the Moon? His plays have been produced or developed by: Soho Rep, Theatre of NOTE, the Playwrights' Center, Drama of Works, Outsider's Inn Collective, Double Take Theatre, Audacity Theatre Lab, Source Theatre, BRIC, Pace University, PegLeg Productions, Oracle Theatre, Conflict of Interest Theatre, NyLon Fusion Theatre Collective, the Off-Off Broadway Play Festival, and Here's American Living Room Festival. His plays, poetry, and articles have been published in Midway Journal, Saint Ann's Review, Brooklyn Review, Stirring, and American Theatre.

DARIN DAHMS (Director) has been very active in the Los Angeles theatre community for the last several years acting, directing, and sometimes writing. He has appeared onstage with the Robey Theatre Company, Write Act Rep, The Met Theatre and Theatricum Botanicum, to name a few. He was recently seen as Duncan/Macduff in the critically acclaimed Psitticus Theatre Company's production of A Tale Told by an Idiot. He recently directed two projects for the Actor's Studio - Cat's-Paw and Women of Manhattan. In 2007 he had great success with a play he co-wrote and directed, Butterflies of Uganda, which was nominated for six NAACP Theatre awards, taking home Best Director and Best Production. Darin holds a BA in Acting from Indiana University at South Bend and an MFA in Acting from the University of South Carolina. He is a lifetime member of the prestigious Actor's Studio.

Olsen (Hair) as Adamet, Julia Prud'homme ("Julie & Julia") as Frigga Brenda, Lynn Odell ("Kill Me Deadly") as Man with Blazing Necktie, Jennifer Flack ("Acceptable TV") as Woman in Bright Bathing Suit, Ezra Buzzington ("Fight Club") as Ferryman At Large, Esther Ives Williams Kalbfleisch as ("Crawl, Fade to White") Pie and Cat Davis ("Skeleton Stories") as Thisbit.

ALCESTE features an award-winning design team. The Set and Props Design is by Naomi Kasahara. The Costume Design is by Takashi Morimoto. The Lighting Design is by Mike Roman. The Sound Design is by Ryan Brodkin. The Fight Choreography is by Jennings Turner. The Stage Manager is Bebe Herrera.

SCHEDULE AND PRICING
