The Grove Theatre is proud to announce the world premiere of GODSPEED A Rock Opera, an original musical by Sammy Oriti. GODSPEED is a high-end Hybrid, theatrical/concert event accurately based on the life of Jesus. It is a contemporary rock opera composed lyrically from scripture, and does not deviate from the text. Hear the word of God come to life in GODSPEED, a new rock opera based on the gospel accounts of Jesus Christ. The production is presented as a hybrid of live theater, rock concert and multi-media, bringing key characters of the New Testament to the stage to tell the full story. Complete with an on-stage rock band, operatic themes and digital integration, GODSPEED is a powerful combination of visual and musical performances. With every lyric derived directly from scripture, this is the world's first live event presenting the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth told in Gospel accuracy through song. Until now there has not been a live stage production on the life of Jesus, told in Gospel accuracy that can musically move an audience like GODSPEED.

GODSPEED features an extremely talented live band who play in such bands as Maroon Five and the bands of Jennifer Lopez and Fergie. The cast is power packed, with vocalists from all over Southern California. GODSPEED stars John Bisaha as Jesus, a singer/songwriter who has performed throughout Southern California as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, and toured nationally and internationally working alongside, and opening for such artists as Heart, Cheap Trick, Robin Trower, Blue Oyster Cult. He also recorded several albums with Disney, most notably the 'D2' soundtrack. Charles St. Michael, who toured as Judas in the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar, is featured as Pharisee Ammas. He was nominated twice for Best Musical Performance by LA Weekly and won a Garland Award from Backstage Magazine for several lead and ensemble performances. He also starred opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in the motion picture The Eagle Path in 2010.

This is a musical event not to be missed.
