The Color Collective Brings Variety Show to LA

By:

If Saturday Night Live and In Living Color had a love child, it'd be The Color Collective - a jam-packed hour long variety show featuring diverse performers in sketch, stand-up, dance, music and more! "The Color Collective was created in order to provide a platform so that no matter who you are, you would see yourself represented on stage," says Creator and Executive producer Royce Shockley, "When I first started performing a few years ago, there was a severe lack of representation in comedy and I wanted to help change that." With a refreshingly unique brand of comedy, a live DJ, and an ever expanding performance schedule, the group is definitely on target to accomplish that goal.

After a successful run at the Hollywood Fringe Festival this past summer and Encore Presentation - including sold out performances, 100% Certified Sweet status on Better Lemons, and favorable reviews by Gia On The Move and Stage Raw - the Complex Theater in Hollywood has offered The Color Collective a chance to do monthly drop-in shows as part of their fall schedule. 'We're excited to work with the Complex,' says Shockley. "We want to bring out product to as many people as possible because it's something we believe in wholeheartedly. Our success at Fringe really validated what we as a group are trying to do. "

Saying goodbye to their former home at the Pack Theater - where that group enjoyed a year and a half of standing room only shows - The Color Collective looks forward to it's upcoming Halloween themed shows at the Complex Hollywood on October 26th and 27th at 8pm.

And The Color Collective hasn't stopped there - they performed at the UCB Inner Sanctum with Corn Bread Kitchen, won two consecutive sketch showdowns at The Pin-up Squirrels' UCB Inner Sanctum show and appeared at The Second City Diversity in Comedy Festival this October. The team has even started to film some of their most popular sketches from their run at The Hollywood Fringe Festival, adding a production arm to their already expanding performance schedule. The video content creation team will be headed by director/writer Mauyr Chauhan, best known for Girl in The Purple Dress and with Killers, Inc (in development.) According to Chauhan, 'Color Collective has immense in-house talent and I'm excited to showcase our FUNNY to the world.' And that they did! The Color Collective's first video sketch 'Fifth Pocket' - featuring three ladies out for a night on the town with creative ideas on how to hold all their stuff - recently debuted on the front page of the go-to comedy content website - Funny or Die - click here to view. Already landing on the front page of Funny or Die with your first video? That's just proof that The Color Collective is a group on the rise that definitely want to catch

The Color Collective is hosted and created by Royce Shockley, guided by the direction of Mirage Thrams, with assistant direction by Sean Michael Boozer and co-produced by Corinne Chooey, Kentrell Newton, Richard Aaron and Stacy Rumaker.
