Teatro Contacto to Present HAMLET: ¿ESTAS O NO ESTÁS?

By:

Mexican Theatre Company "Teatro Contacto" is proud to present "Hamlet: ¿Estás o No Estás?" by William Shakespeare, a drama that focuses in the absurd side of the well known play. Presented on the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2017 the play will be performed in Spanish at Asylum (Inter) National House , 6500 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038 June 20, 24 and 25 at Asylum (Inter)

The play besides presenting the original and widely known themes in Hamlet, it deals with themes that sadden us as much or even more than the King who never was, like consumer society, mainstream media, drug dealing, the backstage of political power and corruption. The rebellious comic-tragedy tone of Shakespeare is shown in war-like makeup, border-line characters, clown, apocalyptic beings and theatre of the absurd.

Theatre company founded in 2005 in the city of Querétaro, part of Instituto de Formación y Experimentacion Artística A.C. and his cultural centre La Otra Banda. In 2013, the company opens Teatrópolis; headquarters of a group of around 20 collaborators, among them actors and creative personal, that currently works under the name of Teatro Contacto. We aim, based in texts of every time, genre and countries, to create a theatre that invites to reflect and analyse society. We focus in providing high quality theatre at an accessible cost (pay what you can).

The political situation between both countries made us decide to take part in this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival as a friendly and colourful manifestation of union.
