THE REVOLUTIONISTS Directed By Jessica Hanna Opens At Cal Rep This Friday

By:

California Repertory Company (CSULB Theatre Arts Department) presents the Southern California premiere of The Revolutionists, a comedic play written by Lauren Gunderson. The Revolutionists takes a step backward in time, following the lives of four rebellious, uncompromising women who fight for friendship, liberty and equality. Cal Rep is honored to introduce this bold comedy to the residents of Southern California.

The Revolutionists is a witty, feminist-filled rebellion against extremists during France's Reign of Terror in the 1700s.

Jessica Hanna, the Co-Founder, Producing and Managing Director of LA's Bootleg Theatre, is directing The Revolutionists. She is a Los Angeles based actor, director, choreographer and producer focusing her new work on development with local artists. She has worked with many theatre companies including Center Theatre Group, Open Fist, and Sacred Fools.

Lauren Gunderson is the most produced American playwright of 2017. She studied Southern Literature and Drama at Emory University, and Dramatic Writing at NYU's Tisch School where she was a Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship. Her work has been commissioned, produced and developed at companies across the US including South Cost Rep, The Kennedy Center and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
