Storybook Pages: GASTON Comes to Garry Marshall Theatre

Garry Marshall Theatre presents the delightful doggy tale Gaston, the spring edition of the popular marshallARTS Family Series program Storybook Pages, a free event on Saturday, March 2 at 11am. New York Times bestselling author Kelly DiPucchio wrote Gaston.

Gaston will be read aloud by actor/singer Connie Jackson (Netflix's One Day At A Time), and Caldecott Honoree Christian Robinson's original illustrations will be projected on the big screen, all accompanied by an original soundscape built by award-winning sound designer Robert Arturo Ramirez (The CW's Arrow).

Gaston reminds us all that family is about love, not appearances. Tickets are free to the public; due to limited seating, reservations are encouraged and available online at GarryMarshallTheatre.org or by calling 818.955.8101. Remaining tickets will be available at show time.

At this presentation of Storybook Pages, there will also be a sneak peek of Garry Marshall Theatre's upcoming musical The Root Beer Bandits, with an appearance by composer Rachael Lawrence (American Girl film series) and lyricist Joseph Leo Bwarie (Broadway's Jersey Boys). In a mini-concert of songs from the show, Lawrence and Bwarie will share how the musical was created. The Root Beer Bandits, performing April 4 to 28, like Gaston, affirms that acceptance and inclusion brings us all together and that wonderful things happen when the good gals and good guys unite.

Gaston tells the story of three poodles: Fi-Fi, Foo-Foo, Ooh-La-La, and their brother Gaston - a bulldog. Gaston works the hardest at his lessons on how to be a proper pooch. He sips-never slobbers! He yips-never yaps! And he walks with grace-never races! Gaston fits right in with his poodle sisters.

But a chance encounter with a bulldog family in the park-Rocky, Ricky, Bruno, and Antoinette-reveals there's been a mix-up, and so Gaston and Antoinette switch places. The new families look right... but they don't feel right. Can these puppies follow their noses-and their hearts-to find where they belong?
