School of Night presents THE FINAL GIRL, 10/13
The company and creative team behind the critically acclaimed Punch and Judy and The Faggot King or The Troublesome Reign and Lamentable Death of Edward the Second have announced The Final Girl, an original 80s slasher-horror play guaranteed to heighten the enjoyment of the Halloween season. Written and directed by Christopher Johnson, The Final Girl will play two preview performances on October 7 at 8pm and October 8 at 7pm. Opening is set for Friday, October 13, at 8pm at the McCadden Place Theatre in Hollywood. The limited engagement will run through Saturday, November 4 only.
The School of Night is proud to present this postmodern potpourri of slasher-horror, revenge tragedy, martial-arts action, grand-guignol, superhero origin, gladiatorial combat, vigilante-crime, and sadomasochistic kink calculated to titillate, tantalize, tense, and terrify. The play contains violence, gore, sexuality, sexual violence, drug use, adult language, gunshots, and eighties-nostalgia. No one under 17 will be admitted.
The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Broderic Beard, Jason Britt, Kristin Carey, Jason C. Daniels, Christopher Dietrick, JC Haro, Jennipher Lewis, Chloe Madriaga, Andrea Nelson, Drew Petriello, Eric Rollins, and Zoe Yale. The lighting design is by Brandon Baruch, the projection designer is Corwin Evans, the costume design is by Johnnyangel Pineda, and Ryan Beveridge is composer and sound designer. Smalltown, USA, 1978. High-school senior Victoria Vahtes becomes the target of escaped psychotic Morgan Miller. In a one-night spree of butchery, the masked Miller murders Victoria's best friend, boyfriend, and parents before attempting to kill her. Rescue arrives in the form of Miller's pistol-packing psychiatrist, Dr. Harriett Gordon-Lewis but Miller escapes and disappears without a trace. Six years later, violent psychotic escapes from understaffed insane asylums and the ensuing murder sprees have become a national epidemic. When a mysterious masked female vigilante starts killing fugitive psychotics mid-rampage, Dr. Gordon-Lewis suspects former patient Victoria Vahtes. After a spectacularly bloody asylum escape by psychotic Wayne Walton, Dr. Gordon-Lewis follows Walton's trail of destruction back to his childhood hometown, certain he will be pursued by the vigilante known to law enforcement as The Final Girl.
Preview performances of The Final Girl are on Saturday, October 7 at 8pm and Sunday, October 8 at 7pm. Opening is set for Friday, October 13 at 8pm. The running schedule will be Friday and Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through November 4. There will be a special added performance on Halloween, Tuesday, October 31 at 8pm.
