Santa Monica Playhouse & The Lord Chamberlain's Players present the Los Angeles premiere of New York-based Actor Mary MacDonald Hamill's solo show "William & Mary (in Search of the Miraculous)" written and performed by Hamill with excerpts from William Shakespeare and incidental music by Michael Welsh, and directed by Rod Menzies. For two performances only, opening Sunday, January 17, 2010.

An idyllic day is shattered by the innocent observation of a three year old child. So sets a life in motion. Secrets, dreams, intimacies and coincidences abound in this courageous, heartbreaking and at times hilarious journey of transcendence.

Writer/performer Mary MacDonald Hamill appeared on Broadway in "Four on a Garden" (with Carol Channing, Sid Caesar, Tommy Lee Jones); "P.S. Your Cat is Dead!"(with Keir Dullea & Tony Musante); "Tally's Folly" (with Judd Hirsch). On tour with Leslie Caron in "One for the Tango." Her Off Broadway shows include "Spiro Who?"; ‘Blue Island; What the Butler Saw"; "Siamese Connections"; "Trelawney of the ‘Wells'." Hamill trains at The Linklater Center in NY under Andrea Haring and Craig Bacon. She trained previously with Lynn Redgrave, Lee Strasberg, and Roy London, among others.

Director Rod Menzies holds a diploma in Acting from the Bristol Old Vic and an MFA in Acting from York University in Toronto. He is Coordinator of the Directors' Round Table for EST-LA and Producing Director for the EST Summer Conservatory Program in New York. Menzies has directed more than a dozen solo shows in New York and LA, including Rich Flisher's "Minute by Minute"; Elaine Ocasio's "All I Ever Wanted"; and Alice Johnson's "St. Alice of Chattahoochee." Other solo show credits - voice coach for Bo Eason's "Runt of the Litter" (Off-Broadway & National Tour); Ann Randolph 's "Squeezebox" (produced Off-Broadway by Anne Bancroft); and Pamela Gien's "Syringa Tree"(OBIE & Drama Desk Award). Later in 2010 he will direct an Off-Broadway production of "Arturo's Window" which he has co-written with Cheryl King, with songs by John Mercurio.

Musician Michael Welsh has a Masters degree (M.M.) in composition. He has worked as a composer, music producer and orchestrator for film, television and advertising, and served as Music Supervisor for Dick Clark Productions and Orion Pictures. Welsh has written music for Theater Productions at The American Conservatory Theatre, California Theatre Center, Old Globe Theatre, Intiman Theatre, and A Noise Within. His concerts works have been featured in the Los Angeles Green Umbrella concerts, Music in Historic Sites & Pacific Composers Forum, and at Zipper Hall, Colburn School, The Glenn Gould Studio Theater, Toronto, the Julliard School, and numerous NPR broadcasts.
