Saida Santana Tributes Josefina de la Torre With 'Visual Poems: A Josefina of XXI Century'

Josefina de la Torre was a Spanish poet, novelist, opera singer, but also a stage, film, radio, and TV actress. Saida Santana, multifaceted Spanish artist and academic herself, presents "Visual Poems: A Josefina of XXI century", a theatrical multimedia piece that reinterprets the vision and poetics of a woman ahead of her time.

Saida Santana, born in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, holds a PhD in Performing Arts from the University Rey Juan Carlos, Master 's degree in Performing Arts and Coaching and Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She is a college professor and a performer who has been living and working between the US and Spain. Saida has made appearances in films, such as Rolando Díaz" La vida según Ofelia" and Sara Mazkiaran's "La Llorona"; as well as in television series, such as "Cosita Linda", "Todos ah cien", "El Juramento de Puntabrava". As a script coordinator, she worked on the TVE's talk show "En noches como esta", and has been a scriptwriter for several media outlets, such as Telemundo. She recently wrote the script for ¨Milagro en la cocina¨ for Telemundo. In addition, she is a regular contributor to the luxury magazine AzuereAzure and the biweekly newspaper I am not your boring newspaper of Miami. Since her debut at the Teatro María Guerrero Theater in Madrid she has performed on a number of stages. Her personal works, such as "Poemas visuales: Una Josefina del siglo XXI" and "Dentro" have been presented at the Spanish Cultural Center in Miami, the Borders Gallery and the Hunter Colleges of NY, as well as the Pérez Galdós Museum and the Spanish Society Benevolent of NY.
