STM Medias and Theatre 68 Open STAY ON THE LINE Tonight

By:

Social rejection, peer pressure, drugs, bullying, mental and physical abuse are just a few of the reasons why we lose thousands of young people each year to suicide in the United States. STAY ON THE LINE is a stage musical that focuses on the type of organization that tries bringing those numbers down.

Set inside a crisis hotline center, STAY ON THE LINE documents a day in the life of new volunteer named Brian who struggles through a 24-hour shift to prove he has the mind strength to become a phone counselor. Each gut-wrenching story he hears brings him closer and closer to a new self-awareness.

With a soaring pop/rock score by Rob Hartmann and a new book by Scott Mlodzinski, the show hailed as having "the single most relevant message in recent musical theater history" is back and better than ever.

STAY ON THE LINE began in 2001 as a project at Cal State Fullerton under the title, "24 Hours". In 2004 the show opened at the Stella Adler Theater to sold-out crowds and was nominated for an Ovation Award for Best Musical. In 2010, Mlodzinski and Hartmann began renovating the entire show, taking almost three years to get the new version up and running.

STAY ON THE LINE opens tonight, February 22 through March 31, with performances on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00PM and Sunday at 7:00PM. Matinee on Sunday, February 24 at 2pm. All performances will be held at Theatre 68 located at 5419 West Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA. 90027. Running time is 120 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. General admission: $30.00
