SELL/BUY/DATE Returns To LA Beginning Today Following a critically acclaimed, sold out run at The Geffen Playhouse earlier this year, the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center, Andrew Carlberg, and Foment Productions will welcome Tony Award-winning playwright and performer Sarah Jones (Bridge & Tunnel) to the Renberg Theatre this fall in her celebrated play Sell/Buy/Date. Preview performances begin on September 27 and the acclaimed production is set to open on Sunday, October 14, at 7pm. The engagement will run through November 18.

Hailed as, "Dazzling! A must-see one-woman marvel!" by the Los Angeles Times, Sell/Buy/Date is an exuberant show inspired by the real-life experiences of people affected by the sex industry. Brimming with Jones' dazzling medley of masterful, multicultural characterizations, the play presents an honest, moving, and even humorous look at a complex and fascinating subject, all while preserving the full humanity of voices seldom heard in the theatre. Along with director Carolyn Cantor, the creative team includes Dane Laffrey (set and costume designs), Matt Richter (lighting design), and Bray Poor (sound design).

Said the Los Angeles Times of Sell/Buy/Date, "A sophisticated piece of storytelling ... the intelligence, humor, empathy, fierce criticism and even fiercer optimism of Jones' solo work makes it a must-see." The New York Times raved, "Absorbing and piercing, with unexpected humor and often biting and bright. Crisply directed by Carolyn Cantor." And Variety said, "Writer/performer Sarah Jones is amazing!"

Called "a master of the genre" by The New York Times, Sarah Jones is a Tony and Obie Award-winning performer and writer known for the multi-character, one-person Broadway hit Bridge & Tunnel, originally produced by Oscar-winner Meryl Streep. Renowned as "a one-woman global village," Jones has also given multiple mainstage Ted Talks, garnering nearly six million views, performed at The White House and United State of Women Summit for President and First Lady Obama, and given an historic performance at The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The daughter of two physicians, Jones was educated at The United Nations School and Bryn Mawr College, all of which contributed to her becoming a vocal advocate for the empowerment of women and girls globally. In her role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she has performed for audiences around the world, and raised awareness of issues including ethnic, racial, and economic disparities in the United States. Most recently, with the support of the NoVo Foundation, Jones launched Foment Productions, a social justice-focused entertainment company. This remount of Sell/Buy/Date is its first production.

Sell/Buy/Date begins previews on Thursday, September 27, at 8pm and opening is set for Sunday, October 14, at 7pm. The regular running schedule will be Thursday through Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7pm through November 18. Admission prices for previews range from $20 to $30 and for regular performances from $20 to $35. VIP Preferred Seating at $75 is available for all performances. Tickets may be purchased online at www.lalgbtcenter.org/theatre or by phone at (323) 860-7300. The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Renberg Theatre is located at 1125 N. McCadden Place (one block east of Highland, just north of Santa Monica Boulevard), in Hollywood, 90038.
