REDCAT Presents Yamaha Pianos All-Star Revue, 2/5

By:

REDCAT presents an evening of virtuosic piano playing recognizing Yamaha, the world's largest musical instrument manufacturer. Yamaha Piano All-Star Revue takes place on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 8:30 pm.

Featuring musicians Anna Grinberg, Danny Holt, Milen Kirov, David Roitstein, David Rosenboom, Juris Vikovs, and Liam Viney.

Yamaha began over one hundred years ago when a young entrepreneur named Torakusu Yamaha set out to craft a high-quality reed organ. Before long, the company he founded had not only gone on to manufacture Japan's first piano, it had also gained recognition abroad with a Yamaha piano and organ being awarded an Honorary Grand Prize at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.

From these auspicious beginnings, Yamaha has grown to become one of the best-loved manufacturers of musical instruments in the world. And as it has grown, the company has capitalized on its unique heritage of artisanship and technological know-how to diversify into an astoundingly wide range of products and services.

On Februrary 5, 2010, REDCAT and some of today's greatest living contemporary pianists honor Yamaha's legacy with a program ranging from Romantic literature to new music to contemporary jazz. Pianists include Anna Grinberg, Danny Holt, Milen Kirov, David Roitstein, David Rosenboom, Juris Vikovs, and Liam Viney, performing pieces by Radiohead, Graham Fitkin, Rachmaninov, Peteris Vasks, Shaun Naidoo, Marc Lowenstein, Kirov and Rosenboom.
