Photo Flash: Sandy Brown's Oh, Yes She Did! Comes to Santa Monica Playhouse

Sandy Brown (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hannah Montana, House of Payne) masterfully portrays 14 legendary black women whose triumphs over their challenges changed the course of American history in her one woman show, Oh, Yes She Did! The show is now running at the Santa Monica Playhouse Fridays at 8pm for a limited run in October to November 1st.

Oh, Yes She Did! (volume 1) is a tour de force 2hr journey through the eyes of legendary black women on the front lines of the struggle for Social Justice in America. Audiences experience the Sandy Brown thoroughly researched all 14 women, from Billie Holiday to Angela Davis to Harriet Tubman, in this profoundly inspiring piece that appeals to children and adults alike, that return again, and again to experience this theatrical ride. As one audience member said the show "allows us to find the heroism in ourselves."

On how she tackled such a huge undertaking, Brown says, "The show spans 400 years of history. I did not feel I could do it justice unless I investigated as fully as possible. So, I went deep into my creative cave for well over a year. I envisioned the completed poster and worked back from it."

Ms. Brown plans to shoot this piece and Part 2 as a TV special and says, "We are seeking additional investors and sponsors for its expansion, and meeting with those inspired by the show's mission to entertain, enlighten, educate and empower"

About Sandy Brown

Sandy Brown is an accomplished actress, playwright, singer, dancer, stand up comedian, producer, model, and martial arts enthusiast. Educated at U.C. Berkeley & NYU, she is herself a pioneer of today, forging her own artistic creations. She frequently travels overseas to entertain our troops with her comedy. She is eager tour her shows and launch her slate of upcoming eclectic and engaging, Indie TV series through her company, Sandcharm.
