Photo Flash: Original Stars of A CHORUS LINE Visit the Show at the Hollywood Bowl
On Friday, July 29, the cast of the 2016 Hollywood Bowl production of A CHORUS LINE met members of the original 1975 Broadway cast backstage. The Hollywood Bowl's production of A Chorus Line, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical, had choreography adapted and re-staged from the Michael Bennett original by director and choreographer Baayork Lee, who appeared as Connie Wong in the original Broadway production and choreographed the Broadway revival in 2006. A Chorus Line was conducted by Patrick Vaccariello. Bob Avian, the co-choreographer of the original 1975 Broadway production and director of the 2006 Broadway revival, served as Production Supervisor.
A Chorus Line is the groundbreaking show about life as a dancer auditioning for a Broadway musical; with its unforgettable score and riveting real-life story, it's the Hollywood Bowl's annual, fully staged production. From "I Hope I Get It" to "The Music and the Mirror" and "One," united by the iconic choreography of visionary Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line's music and message remain fresh and true, capturing the excitement and drama that all performers face, having chosen a life on the stage - in one thrilling sensation of a musical! Conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line has a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and was originally co-choreographed by Bob Avian.
