Photo Flash: Maureen Teefy's One-Woman Show A SUBJECT FOR A SHORT STORY Plays fanatic Salon Theatre

Actress, Maureen Teefy shared the most memorable moments of her life to a sold-out, two-night engagement of her one-woman show A Subject for a Short Story at the fanatic Salon Theatre in Culver City on August 14th & 15th. Scroll down for photos!

Her most important memories fill this nearly 90-minute show. Many of the stories are innately personal and go back to her days growing up in a large Irish Catholic family in the twin cities with eight sisters and one brother. A Subject for a Short Story, directed by Thomas Mitchell, begins with a scene from "The Seagull" by Anton Chekhov. Teefy was cast as Nina in a play, when she was 18 and uses Nina's journey, as a parallel to her life up to now.

Teefy's stage show touches on a bit of everything: her spirituality, being accepted into Juilliard, and her film career. For one of her most memorable roles as 'Doris Finsecker' in the 1980 movie "Fame", Teefy sang "The Way We Were." She also shared anecdotes from her other film roles including, "Grease 2", "Supergirl", and how she landed her first part in Steven Spielberg's movie "1941."

Teefy reflects on past relationships including her 23 year long marriage, and her romance with Tony Award-winner Forbes Candlish, who was in attendance. Forbes Candlish said, "Words cannot describe how poignant and important this show is!"

Accompanied by her Music Director Bill Jenkins on piano, Maureen sings with a sweet husky-toned charm and delivers moving performances throughout the show. Teefy also entertained the audience with a delightful tap dance to Cole Porter's "You've Got That Thing", choreographed by Cathy Chazan.

Teefy's charm and bountiful energy won over her audience. She ended her performance by quoting Nina, "When I become a great actress, come and see me act. Promise?" The audience yells, "Yes!" Teefy takes a bow and receives a long standing ovation.

Frances Fisher, Michael Chieffo and Teefy's "Fame" co-star Lee Curreri were also in attendance.
