Penny Lane Centers Holds Annual Edgy Conference Garden Party To Raise Funds For LGBTQ+ Youth Image

Penny Lane Centers will once again be holding their annual Garden Party fundraising event in support of their EDGY CONFERENCE at Penny Lane Centers' North Hollywood location on Thursday, July 26th. This summer event will feature live performances by the LA Trans Chorus, Inspired Voices Church Choir and Penny Lane Centers LGBTQ+ Youth along with a show emceed by Miss Barbie Q.

Those attending the event will have the opportunity to learn more about the EDGY Conference. Which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this November 9th. The annual EDGY Conference encourages the community to continue building a brighter future for GLBTQ youth and families as well as educate the public on Penny Lane Centers LBGTQ+ azQ initiatives.

Penny Lane Centers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1969 originally to serve abused teenage girls. Since that time, Penny Lane's programs and services have expanded to serve thousands of children, youth and families annually.

Services include: Mentoring, Foster Care and Adoption, Transitional and Permanent Housing, Family Preservation, Wraparound, Residential Treatment Facilities, Therapeutic Behavioral Services and Mental Health Services. In recent years Penny Lane has also been working with the Department of Rehabilitation to help young people find employment.

The most recent programs that have been undertaken at Penny Lane include Transitional Aged Youth Drop-In Centers for Homeless youth in the community, Relative Support Services, Adoption Promotion and Support Services, Residential Home Assessment Services and Partnership for Families. Penny Lane is proud to have received the "All Children, All Families" Seal from the Human Rights Campaign. Penny Lane has also been awarded a grant from the Department of Mental Health to help create understanding and improve treatment for LGBTQ youth at the agency training level.

The EDGY Conference provides a "one-stop-shop" opportunity for youth-serving professionals to build awareness and cultural competency, learn current and emerging best practices, and gather resources from leading experts and national organizations in the field.

The EDGY Conference, which is presented by Penny Lane Centers, strives to create a supportive environment for GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) youth and families through initiatives, education, and enlightenment.

As Penny Lane's work with GLBTQ youth and families expanded so did the organization's knowledge of best practices for working with this population. In an effort to share their knowledge and experience with the social service community, Penny Lane held its first EDGY Conference in 2009. Penny Lane has remained committed to bringing to light the unique issues GLBTQ youth and families face.
