NARSOCIETY - THE SOCIAL MEDIA SHAMING MUSICAL to Premiere at Hollywood Fringe

By:

Chris Valenti Enterprises presents NARSOCIETY - THE SOCIAL MEDIA SHAMING MUSICAL at the Hudson Backstage Theater in Hollywood.

NARSOCIETY - THE SOCIAL MEDIA SHAMING MUSICAL is a musical comedy about the narcissism and outrage that has taken hold of our culture through the compulsive and pervasive addiction to the Internet. Social media can bring us together... and tear us apart.

Carlos is a cartoonist who wants to use the internet to boost his career. Carlos falls in love with Sadie, an Internet-introvert who wears her heart on her twitter feed. Carlos' employee Travis is a computer whiz, but also a misogynistic online troll. Sadie's roommate Blair is a feminist watchdog/blogger. A billionaire Internet mogul, Sydney, likes Carlos' drawings and offers him a dream job. The demanding work schedule puts stress on the budding romance. After a lover's quarrel, Carlos emails Sadie an apology and a dirty drawing he thought she would find funny. Asking for relationship advice, Sadie shares it on her Facebook page. Blair finds the drawing offensive and sexist; she blogs it out to her followers. One of whom is Kailyn, an Internet celebrity model who shares it with a billion of her followers. Outrage wars breakout between the misogynistic trolls and the feminist bloggers. Carlos' career and dreams end as he becomes the Internet Monster of the week.

With Book, Music, and Lyrics written by Chris Valenti and John T. Mickevich, NARSOCIETY - THE SOCIAL MEDIA SHAMING MUSICAL is a full length two act musical featuring 19 new songs that explore various elements of the Internet experience: procrastination, dating apps, cat-fishing, incessant selfies, cat videos, fears of improbable disasters, response-time insecurity, the thrill of trending, and much, much more.

The play includes an outstanding cast: Bonnie Kolber, Sarah Spiegel, C. BrIan Smith, William Gabriel Grier, Larisa Peters, Chris Valenti, Christine Anatone, Vincent Soto, Alyssa B. Jackson, Tom Schneiders, Nadia Marina, Morgan Ann Smith, Edward Alvarado, and Reed Buck. Chris Valenti is directing. Choreography is by Broadway veteran Michelle Loucadoux.
