Musco Center Presents Michio Kaku 3.01

Chapman University's Office of the Provost and Musco Center for the Arts present one of the most widely recognized futurists, Dr. Michio Kaku, who will speak on his latest book, The Future of Humanity, on March 1 at 7:30 pm. Dr. Kaku takes his audience on a fascinating journey to a future in which humanity may finally fulfill its long-awaited destiny among the stars.

Dr. Michio Kaku, #1 New York Times Bestseller, considers the stabilization of civilization in outer space in The Future of Humanity. Considering solar travel a possibility, Kaku discusses new technologies such as nanoships, laser sails, fusion rockets, the colonization of mars, and beyond. Kaku poses probing questions as he continually seeks to explore the great depths of space and humanities place in it.

A graduate of Harvard University with highest honors, Dr. Kaku received his doctorate at the University of California, Berkeley, where his area of expertise grew in quantum physics, supersymmetry, supergravity, hadronic physics, and superstring theory. Now a co-founder of string field theory, Dr. Kaku carries on Einstein's quest to unite the four fundamental forces of nature into a single grand unified theory of everything. According to current scientific schools of thought, the four fundamental forces are gravitation, electromagnetism, the weak interaction, and the strong interaction.

Hailed for his expertise, Dr. Kaku has frequently contributed to broadcast television's CBS News, The Today Show, Good Morning America, and NOVA: Secret Life of Scientists on PBS, among others. ABOUT MICHIO KAKU

Dr. Michio Kaku is the co-creator of string field theory, a branch of string theory. He received a B.S. (summa cum laude) from Harvard University in 1968 where he came first in his physics class. He went on to the Berkeley Radiation Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley and received a Ph.D. in 1972. In 1973, he held a lectureship at Princeton University.

Michio continues Einstein's search for a "Theory of Everything," seeking to unify the four fundamental forces of the universe-the strong force, the weak force, gravity, and electromagnetism.

He is the author of several scholarly, Ph.D. level textbooks and has had more than 70 articles published in physics journals, covering topics such as superstring theory, supergravity, supersymmetry, and hadronic physics.
